Democrats Vote Against Bill to Deport Migrants Convicted of Sex Crimes

More than 150 House Democrats voted against a bill that would deport illegal immigrants who have been convicted of sexual offenses.

While the bill still passed, 266-158, each of the votes in opposition came from Democrats.

Fifty-one Democrats, however, voted in favor of the bill.

The bill, HR 7909, or the “Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act,” sought to “amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide that aliens who have been convicted of or who have committed sex offenses or domestic violence are inadmissible and deportable.”

“Why do Democrats support foreign predators?” Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-WI) asked.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who sponsored the bill, told Fox News ahead of the vote that she anticipated Democrats voting against it.

“If you vote against it, you’re sexist against women,” she said. “I mean, truly, because we’re talking about illegals who are here who are committing domestic violence, rape and murder on women and children — they’ve gotta go. They shouldn’t be allowed into our country.”

Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) claimed the bill “fear mongers about immigrants.”
