Governor JB Pritzker (D-IL) has called for “mass protests” against Republicans during the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner.
“Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now,” he said. “These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace. They have to understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have.”
“We must castigate them on the soapbox and then punish them at the ballot box,” Pritzker declared.
Pritzker also criticized “do-nothing Democrats” who “want to blame our losses on our defense of Black people and trans kids and immigrants — instead of their own lack of guts and gumption.” Similarly, the governor took aim at Democrats “flocking to podcasts,” such as California Governor Gavin Newsom.
“What I find ironic about the current conversation surrounding our party,” he said, “is that the voices flocking to podcasts and cable news shows to admonish fellow Democrats for not caring enough about the struggles of working families are the same ones who, when it comes to relieving the struggles of real people, have been timid, not bold.”
Ahead of Pritzker’s speech, former Illinois Republican National Committeeman Richard Porter told NHJournal that the governor is “not the flinty pragmatic New Hampshire sort of politician,” but a “rich radical, a billionaire seeking affirmation and meaning by embracing radicals and their ideas that have no consequences for himself.”
New Hampshire GOP Chair Jim MacEachern said Pritzker’s appearance in the state was “truly fitting.”
“Both he and [U.S. Representative] Chris Pappas want to place a tax on everything that moves,” MacEachern said. “Both want to let violent criminals back on the streets, and both are pushing to appease the far left of their party.”
