Democratic Donor May Consider Leaving U.S.

Leftist billionaire and Democratic donor Reid Hoffman is reportedly looking to leave the United States.

LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman told his friends he is “weighing a move overseas,” three people familiar with the development shared with The New York Times.

According to the outlet, Hoffman is “worried about retribution” from President-elect Donald Trump.

Hoffman provided funding for E. Jean Carroll’s lawsuit against Trump as well as the MeidasTouch Network, a Democratic-aligned organization, National Pulse reported.

The megadonor also backed former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley’s campaign against Trump.

The New York Times noted that several left-wing donors or their advisors have weighed the “idea of moving abroad.”

“Some are distributing memos meant to guide the postmortem analysis for Democrats, beginning to kick around ideas for new media companies or imploring their peers not to let liberal fund-raising dry up,” the report explained.

Hoffman has been linked to Jeffrey Epstein and visited his Island in 2014. He explained to the Wall Street Journal that he visited Epstein’s island for an MIT fundraising trip.

“It gnaws at me that, by lending my association, I helped his reputation, and thus delayed justice for his survivors,” Hoffman told the Journal in an email. “While I relied on MIT’s endorsement, ultimately I made the mistake, and I am sorry for my personal misjudgment.”
