Democrat Billionaires Funding Activist Group Behind Jordan Neely Protests

Liberal billionaires have reportedly been the donating force behind the communist-linked group protesting the death of Jordan Neely.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Voices of Community Activists and Leaders (VOCAL), the communist-linked group behind the protests following the death of New York City homeless man Jordan Neely, has received large donations from groups funded by liberal billionaires such as Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and George Soros.
  • Neely died after Marine Daniel Penny held him in a choke hold on a subway train in early May when Neely was reportedly threatening passengers.
  • The Soros-funded “Open Society Foundation” gave VOCAL New York over $982,000 in contributions from 2017 to 2021, with $100,000 intended to support Vocal New York’s Housing Justice for All project.
  • The Zuckerberg-linked FWD.us Education Fund donated $100,000 to VOCAL New York in 2019, and the environmental organization Windward Fund, connected to the Democrat-linked consulting firm Arabella Advisors, gave the organization $15,000 in 2020.
  • “Just arresting this person, though I think accountability is absolutely necessary, it will not solve the critical structural failings that lead to the 70,000+ people experiencing homelessness every single night in our city, and it will not have saved this person’s life,” VOCAL New York Organizing Director Jawanza Williams said last week.
QUEENS DEMOCRAT SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA ON “FIGHTING BACK” AGAINST THE SYSTEM:

“We will heal through community, organizing our neighbors, and fighting back against a sick system that commodifies our basic human needs,” the GROUP said. “We will not rest until housing is a human right. Rest in Power Jordan Neely.”

BACKGROUND:
  • The liberal group Center for Tech and Civil Life (CTCL), funded by Zuckerberg, reportedly donated to the 2020 presidential contest and offered “assistance” to election offices.
  • CTCL, alongside other left-wing nonprofits, also created the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence, a movement that claims to help election offices with “resources and services.”
  • The alliance reportedly gave $530 million in grants to local election offices from the foundation run by CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife.
  • In April 2022, Zuckerberg announced he would not be donating to election offices after receiving criticism that the nearly $400 million he put towards the 2020 presidential contest unfairly bolstered Democratic turnout.
  • “They are not donating for something like this, ever again,” said Brian Baker, a spokesperson for Zuckerberg and his wife.
  • Republican lawmakers, conservative-leaning news outlets, and watchdog groups claimed Zuckerberg’s massive donation in 2020 was used unjustly to encourage Democratic voters, particularly in swing states.
