U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) announced Wednesday the arrest of a former Cuban intelligence officer who allegedly fraudulently obtained U.S. residency.
While the suspect’s identity has not been disclosed, HSI’s Miami division shared a photo of the arrest, conducted in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The man, arrested in West Park, Broward County, is accused of lying on his immigration application to secure Lawful Permanent Residence Status in the U.S.
Rep. Carlos Giménez (R-FL) confirmed the arrest on social media, stating, “Biden allowed our country to be filled with these repressors, and we are now working together with the Trump Administration to remove these agents of the regime from our nation.”
Reports from Cuban diaspora groups claim that dozens of former Castro regime members exploited Biden administration policies, such as the “Humanitarian Parole” program, to enter the U.S. Among them, Luis Raúl González-Pardo Rodríguez, a Cuban pilot linked to the 1996 killing of four American citizens, entered under the parole program in April 2024. Another, Manuel Menéndez Castellanos, a former Cuban Communist Party official, arrived in August through the “Cuban Family Reunification Parole” program.
The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FHRC) reported in August that the number of Castro regime representatives entering the U.S. had increased fivefold since 2023. The organization maintains a verified list of nearly 1,000 known Cuban repressors, warning that at least 115 have entered the U.S. since February 2023.
In December 2023, former U.S. diplomat Victor Manuel Rocha was charged with spying for Cuba for over 40 years. Rocha pleaded guilty in April 2024 and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Giménez urged the public to report any known Cuban repressors residing in the U.S., sharing a link to FHRC’s list, stating, “Agents of the regime have no place in our community of victims of these scoundrels.”
