Staff for the House Oversight Committee’s Republicans sent a memo to GOP Committee members, taking aim at Democrats’ efforts to implicate President Trump in Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities.
Decrying the Democrats’ efforts of “sensationalizing and politicizing” the Committee’s review of the Epstein investigation, the memo, obtained by Fox News, stated that those on the left “lied about former U.S. Attorney General William Barr’s deposition,” falsely stating that “he did not exonerate President Donald Trump.”
Furthermore, Democrats selectively leaked emails from thousands of Epstein-related documents and “applied their own redactions to manufacture an anti-Trump narrative and mislead the media and the public.” Democrats then said Republicans were responsible for the redactions.
“Throughout the Oversight Committee’s review of the federal government’s handling of the Epstein and Maxwell criminal investigations, Democrats have demonstrated a sustained pattern of misconduct — misrepresenting witness testimony, selectively leaking cherry-picked documents, and manipulating emails and images — to fabricate yet another politically motivated hoax targeting President Trump,” the memo read. “As a result, nothing Democrats post or leak on this matter can be taken at face value.”
Committee staff also blamed “Legacy Media” for the falsehoods, stating the outlets acted as a “willing conduit rather than performing basic due diligence.”
Similarly, a memo sent last month from Committee staff to Committee members asserted that “Democrats have uncovered nothing new, have released no document not provided at the request of Republicans, and have only succeeded in reinforcing what the American people already knew: President Trump knew Jeffrey Epstein decades ago, President Trump ended the relationship with Epstein, and President Trump did not participate or know about the nature of Epstein’s evil.”
