Colorado Secretary of State ‘Mistakenly’ Encourages 30,000 ‘Noncitizens’ to Register to Vote

“The Department has become aware that approximately 30,000 EBU [Eligible But Unregistered] postcard mailers were incorrectly sent to ineligible Coloradans,” said the Colorado Secretary of State Office.

QUICK FACTS:
  • The office of Democratic Secretary of State Jena Griswold revealed it mistakenly sent 30,000 cards encouraging voter registration to non-US citizens.
  • “Make sure your voice is heard this November,” the mailer read. “Register to VOTE today at www.GoVoteColorado.gov.”
  • The incident was blamed on a glitch comparing a list of 102,000 names supplied by the Electronic Registration Information Center to a Colorado driver’s license database.
  • Non-US citizens given special licenses to drive in the state of Colorado are listed on the database, which lacked the information necessary to remove these individuals from registration mailers.
  • “Jena’s continued malfeasance and oddly timed ‘errors’ undermine the trust in our system and create more problems for our hardworking county clerks,” said Colorado GOP Chairwoman Kristi Burton Brown on the issue.
  • “She has spent four years serving as a taxpayer-funded partisan hack and MSNBC analyst instead of serving as a fair, unbiased Secretary of State,” Brown added.
GRISWOLD’S COLORADO MAILER CONTROVERSIES:
  • In 2020, Republican Congressman Ken Buck urged the Justice Department and Federal Election Commission to open an investigation into whether or not voter registration mailers went to deceased individuals.
  • It was later discovered that “about a dozen postcards–that we know of–” went to noncitizens or the deceased.
  • Griswold was criticized at the time for using the third-party Electronic Registration Information Center without checking for ineligible individuals.
BACKGROUND:
  • American Faith reported from PJ Media that Griswold is backed by George Soros and refused to participate in an election audit.
  • Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters claimed Jena Griswold also raided her office due to the “illegal release of passwords to Mesa County election computers.”
  • Peters stated that any password leak had to have come through Griswold, as she is the only one with access to the passwords.
