Coca-Cola released its first fully AI holiday commercial.
The ad pays homage to its Christmas commercial from 1995 titled, “Holidays Are Coming.”
“We didn’t start by saying: ‘OK, we need to do this with AI,’” the company’s European Chief Marketing Officer Javier Meza told Marketing Week. “The brief was, we want to bring Holidays Are Coming into the present and then we explored AI as a solution to that.”
AI was “efficient,” he said.
The AI was condemned on social media.
One X user said the commercial was the “fakest, most talentless ad of all time.” Another user suggested it may be time to “boycott” the company.
“Impressive how much the soullessness comes through,” another individual wrote.
“Why would you replace such a memorable ad with ai slop???” another comment read.
