CIA Reported Numerous Employees to Ethics Office Over Conflicts of Interest

Files reviewed by the Daily Caller revealed that the CIA reported numerous employees to the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) ethics office over possible conflicts of interest.

The CIA filed thirty-two Form 202 conflict of interest referral notifications to the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) between January 1, 2021, and May 16, 2023.

The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project obtained the records from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and provided the information to the Daily Caller.

“In response to your request, we are enclosing one page of responsive records. Note that for a variety of reasons, there may be multiple forms submitted in relation to a single referral,” the OGE wrote. “The numbers listed are the numbers of forms received by OGE during that time frame, not necessarily the number of referrals.”

The referrals pertain to incidents of bribery, graft, and conflicts of interest, the Daily Caller noted.

A variety of government agencies submitted Form 202s.

While the CIA submitted thirty-two Form 202s, the Department of Energy and the Department of Veterans Affairs submitted 26, the DHS Office of Inspector General submitted 19, and the Department of Defense submitted 18.
