The Chinese government placed sanctions on seven U.S. companies in response to the United States announcing assistance to Taiwan.
The companies being sanctioned are Insitu Inc., Hudson Technologies Co., Saronic Technologies, Inc., Raytheon Canada, Raytheon Australia, Aerkomm Inc., and Oceaneering International Inc.
“Recently, the United States announced another substantial military assistance and arms sale to China’s Taiwan region. Its ‘National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025’ includes multiple negative sections on China. These seriously violate the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. Joint Communiqués, interfere in China’s internal affairs, and undermine China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
“Their movable and immovable properties, and other kinds of assets within China shall be frozen,” the statement added. “All organizations and individuals within China shall be prohibited from engaging in transaction, cooperation and other activities with them.”
Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, said during a press conference that the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act “played up the alleged ‘China military threat’ as an excuse to increase the US military spending and maintain its hegemony. This grossly interferes with China’s internal affairs and undermines world peace and stability. We deplore and firmly oppose to it.”
Earlier this month, China sanctioned 13 U.S. military companies in response to D.C.’s planned arms sales to Taiwan. The arms sales included a $385-million deal for spare parts for F-16 jets and radar components.
China targeted Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc., BRINC Drones Inc., Shield AI, Rapid Flight LLC, Red Six Solutions, SYNEXXUS Inc., Firestorm Labs Inc., Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems Inc., HavocAI, Neros Technologies, Cyberlux Corporation, Domo Tactical Communications, and Group W.
Six executives were also targeted: Barbara Borgonov, President of the Naval Force Strategic Operations Department of Thor; Gerard Hueber, Vice President of the Naval Force Strategic Operations Department of Thor Company; Charles Woodburn, CEO of Beye Land and Weapon Systems; Richard D. Crawford, founder and CEO of United Technology System Operating Company; Beth Edler, President of data link solution company; and Blake Resnick, founder and CEO of BRINC.
