Ceasefire Extended by Three Weeks

President Trump announced that a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks.

“The President of the United States, DONALD J. TRUMP, Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, and Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, met today with High Ranking Representatives of Israel and Lebanon in the Oval Office,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The Meeting went very well! The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah. The Ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by THREE WEEKS. I look forward in the near future to hosting the Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, and the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun. It was a Great Honor to be a participant at this very Historic Meeting!”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump’s involvement “made it possible” to extend the ceasefire. He explained that the extension “gives everybody time to continue to work on what’s going to be permanent peace between two countries that want to be at peace, both are victimized by the same terrorist organization.”

Vice President JD Vance called the development “a major, historic moment.” He noted that it “wouldn’t have happened without the president’s direct engagement.”

Last week, President Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day ceasefire.

In a subsequent statement, President Trump said he would be inviting Netanyahu and Aoun to the White House, the “first meaningful talks between Israel and Lebanon since 1983.”

“Both sides want to see PEACE, and I believe that will happen, quickly!” Trump proclaimed.
