Cancel The View, ABC Faces Backlash Over Trump Pressure

Rosie O’Donnell claims ABC could cancel The View due to political pressure tied to President Trump. In a TikTok posted Thursday, the former co-host accused the network of preparing to silence the show’s liberal voices under the guise of reviewing “bias.” Her comments reflect ongoing tensions between corporate media, political speech, and the influence of conservative leadership.

According to O’Donnell, ABC’s supposed internal review of The View’s tone signals an attempt to suppress dissent. She described the review as “code” for cancellation, arguing that the show’s outspoken political commentary—especially criticism of President Trump—makes it a target. She alleged this represents a broader campaign to eliminate viewpoints that challenge the political right.

O’Donnell stated that media executives want less political commentary and more entertainment-focused content. Her claims followed a report that Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic encouraged the show’s hosts to scale back political talk, particularly anti-Trump rhetoric, and focus instead on celebrity segments. Reportedly, Ana Navarro pushed back, saying their audience expects political coverage.

Despite the controversy, The View is scheduled to return in September for its 29th season. The current lineup—Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin—is expected to remain unchanged.

O’Donnell took aim at what she described as creeping censorship and political conformity, accusing media networks of falling in line with Trump’s influence. She warned that silencing women and truth-tellers under the label of “balance” threatens the nation’s democratic discourse.

The White House responded with strong words. A spokesperson labeled O’Donnell and Behar “irrelevant losers” and mocked O’Donnell’s recent move to Ireland, suggesting she stay there. The administration’s dismissive tone highlights the growing hostility between critics of the president and his supporters in media and politics.
