Borgata Hotel Tragedy Leaves Two Dead in Atlantic City

Two New York City residents were found dead inside a room at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City on Sunday afternoon. Autopsy results released Wednesday confirmed that a 36‑year‑old woman died from a broken neck and a 68‑year‑old man died from self‑inflicted stab wounds. Authorities are still determining the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Atlantic City police responded to the hotel around 5 p.m. on November 23 after staff reported an unresponsive pair inside a guest room. The victims were identified as Baoyi Bowie Zheng of Staten Island and Wei Guo Liang of Brooklyn. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office stated that both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the medical examiner, Zheng suffered a fatal neck injury. Liang’s cause of death was ruled a suicide. Officials have not confirmed whether the incident is classified as a murder‑suicide, and the investigation remains active. No further details have been released regarding how long the victims had been staying at the hotel or any connection between them. The Borgata is operated by MGM Resorts International and is one of the largest and most trafficked hotels in Atlantic City.

The case is being handled by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit alongside Atlantic City police. Investigators have requested information from the public and have not announced any suspects or additional persons of interest. Authorities have not released surveillance details or findings from the hotel room beyond the autopsy results.

The Borgata continues to operate normally, and no threat to guests or the public has been reported. MGM Resorts has not issued a public statement regarding the deaths. Local news outlets report that this is one of several ongoing investigations involving unexpected deaths in the region, though officials say there is no indication of a broader public safety concern.
