Biological Male Alex Consani Wins Transgender Model of the Year at 2024 Fashion Awards

Alex Consani, a biological male, made history as the first transgender individual to win the prestigious Model of the Year title at the 2024 Fashion Awards. The event, held at London’s Royal Albert Hall, saw Consani accept the award with comments calling it a “big step in the right direction.”

Throughout 2024, Consani modeled for major brands, including Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Victoria’s Secret. The 21-year-old, known for his bleach-blond hair and eyebrows, thanked influential transgender figures such as Dominique Jackson, Connie Fleming, and Aaron Rose Philip for paving the way. Consani also highlighted the importance of parental support for transgender children, urging more families to champion their dreams.

Consani gained widespread attention earlier in the year by becoming the first transgender model to walk the runway at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Represented by IMG Models, the same agency as top supermodels like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Consani has built a significant presence in the fashion industry since debuting on the Tom Ford runway in 2021.

This milestone follows a trend of biological males competing in spaces traditionally reserved for women. Other examples include Bailey Anne Kennedy winning Miss Maryland USA in 2024, Kataluna Enriquez taking the Miss Nevada USA crown in 2021, and Rikkie Valerie Kolle and Marina Machete making headlines in international beauty pageants. These moments continue to spark discussions about fairness and representation in women’s spaces.
