President Joe Biden has issued a warning, stating that it would be viewed as an act of war if Iran were to kill Donald Trump. This coincides with the disclosure that more than six former Trump campaign aides have been singled out by Iran for their part in Qassem Soleimani’s murder. In the past few months, there have also been two attempts to assassinate Trump.
Fox News claims that Biden gave his National Security Council orders to inform Iran that any attempt on Trump’s life would be interpreted by the US as an act of war that would need retaliation. This coincides with the prior president’s pursuit of enhanced military-grade security.
In addition, the administration has taken extreme measures to shield former Trump aides who are now targets due to the drone strike on the terrorist commander in Iran. Recently, the Trump administration asked for military planes with missile-tracking capabilities.
“We consider this a national and homeland security matter of the highest priority, and we strongly condemn Iran for these brazen threats,” National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savitt said. “We have ensured that appropriate agencies are continuously and promptly providing the former president’s security detail with evolving threat information. Additionally, President Biden has reiterated his directive that the United States Secret Service should receive every resource, capability and protective measure required to address those evolving threats to the former president.”
Biden remained silent when Fox News questioned the White House on the matter last month regarding whether Iran’s attempt on Trump’s life would qualify as an act of war. Iran attempted to send malware to the Biden-Harris campaign after hacking the Trump campaign earlier in the summer, and both Trump and the aides implicated in the Soleimani killing have received death threats.
On July 13, Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to shoot Trump from the top of a nearby building by setting up a sniper’s position. However, Crooks was unable to kill Trump. Crooks hit him in the ear with the death shot that he almost missed. There was a second attempt on Trump’s life when he was playing golf on his course in West Palm Beach. Ryan Routh reportedly waited for around 12 hours to target the president. An AK-47-style weapon was found at the scene.
