President Joe Biden is reportedly “receptive” to the idea of ending his presidential reelection campaign.
A Democratic adviser told CNN that Biden is “receptive” to the subject privately. “Not as defiant as he is publicly.”
“He’s gone from saying, ‘Kamala can’t win,’ to ‘Do you think Kamala can win?” the adviser added. “It’s still unclear where he’s going to land but seems to be listening.”
The information follows Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) allegedly pressuring Biden to end his campaign.
According to ABC News’ Johnathan Karl, Schumer “forcefully made the case that it would be better for Biden, better for the Democratic Party, and better for the country if he were to bow out.”
Schumer’s office said the report was “idle speculation,” however, sharing a statement with the outlet: “Unless ABC’s source is Chuck Schumer or President Joe Biden the reporting is idle speculation. Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus directly to President Biden on Saturday.”
Other left-wing sources reported that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has been outspoken against Biden’s ongoing campaign, although her office said that she has not discussed the matter with Biden.
“These sources are not good sources,” her spokesperson said.
Amid the speculative reports, a senior adviser to Biden’s reelection campaign, T.J. Ducklo, wrote on social media, “Joe Biden is his party’s nominee. He’s the President of the United States. He’s running for reelection. Baseless conjecture from anonymous sources isn’t a scoop. Tonight a convicted felon will talk about how he’ll make people’s lives worse if he gains power. Let’s focus.”
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates told Fox News Digitial that Biden told both Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) that “he is the nominee of the party, he plans to win, and looks forward to working with both of them to pass his 100 days agenda to help working families.”
