The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA) has filed a federal lawsuit demanding the release of government records that could expose how the Biden administration funneled billions of taxpayer dollars to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for resettling migrants across the United States, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.
The lawsuit, filed against the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), seeks all records from fiscal years 2023 and 2024 that detail how much taxpayer money was granted to NGOs tasked with supporting migrants apprehended at the southern border. These records would reveal how much was spent on housing, healthcare, education, legal assistance, and other resettlement-related services.
“CASA filed this lawsuit to provide maximum transparency to the Biden administration’s outrageous giveaway of millions of taxpayer dollars to non-governmental organizations that facilitated illegal immigration,” said CASA Director James Fitzpatrick in a statement to Breitbart.
According to CASA, NGOs were awarded more than $6.4 billion in taxpayer funds in Fiscal Year 2022 alone to assist migrants. The organization argues that Americans have a right to know how their money was spent and which organizations received the funding.
“The American public deserves to know every organization that received these funds so they can see for themselves the extremes the Biden administration went to in order to ensure government money went to as many organizations as possible who facilitated, promoted, and furthered Biden’s pursuit for a reckless open border,” Fitzpatrick added.
The Biden administration has been widely criticized for using taxpayer dollars to support sanctuary cities and NGOs that assist with migrant resettlement, often without public transparency. CASA’s lawsuit aims to shed light on what it calls an opaque and controversial use of federal funds.
The case, CASA v. HHS, is filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
