Hur Interview Audio Release Looms for Biden DOJ

President Donald Trump’s administration is reportedly preparing to release the audio of President Joe Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur, potentially exposing what allies are calling one of the “biggest cover-ups in American history.” The interview was conducted during Hur’s investigation into Biden’s improper handling of classified documents, an investigation that ended with no charges due to Biden being described as a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”

Congress has demanded access to the full, unredacted audio, but the Biden administration has repeatedly refused, citing executive privilege. Only redacted transcripts have been provided. Now, according to Politico, Trump’s Department of Justice may override that privilege claim ahead of a looming May 30 deadline tied to FOIA requests from Judicial Watch and the Heritage Foundation.

Trump ally Mike Davis stated the audio will show the full extent of Biden’s mental decline and the administration’s efforts to cover it up. Hur’s findings contradicted Biden’s public assertion that his “memory is fine,” with the report stating Biden was unable to recall key dates, including when he served as vice president or when his son Beau died.

Biden was found to have stored classified documents in multiple unsecured locations, including his garage next to his Corvette and in offices dating back to his Senate and vice presidential days. Despite these serious breaches, no charges were filed. In contrast, President Trump faced an FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago home, document seizures, and multiple federal charges.

When Congress demanded the full audio, Attorney General Merrick Garland invoked executive privilege and refused to comply with a subpoena. He claimed releasing such materials would discourage cooperation with the DOJ. Unlike Trump officials such as Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro—who were imprisoned for contempt after asserting executive privilege—Garland faced no penalties for noncompliance.

House Republicans have also revealed that Biden’s White House attempted to influence the Hur report’s content, requesting alterations to the transcript before release. Hur confirmed this during testimony before the House Judiciary Committee.

With the deadline approaching, the Trump DOJ must now decide whether to uphold Biden’s privilege claim or release the audio and allow the American public to judge for themselves.
