Democratic donors told Future Forward, the largest Biden super PAC, that they will freeze nearly $90 million dollars if Biden remains in the presidential race.
Two people familiar with the matter informed the New York Times of the development. According to the outlet, one donor said the super PAC approached him several times for a contribution, but said he was “holding off.”
The frozen donations include “multiple eight-figure commitments,” the Times reported.
Democratic donors recently said they will provide $2 million to fund new debates if Joe Biden drops out of the presidential race.
Bill Harris, a former chief executive of Intuit and PayPal, is leading the effort.
“It’s not that we have to protect ourselves from chaos and drama,” Harris told The Washington Post. “We need drama and a little chaos. I think it can be refreshing and energizing.”
