AOC Bronx Girl Claim Backfires After Trump Spat

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed to be a “Bronx girl” during a social media clash with President Donald Trump after she called for his impeachment over U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Critics quickly pointed out that she was raised in the affluent suburb of Yorktown Heights, not the Bronx.

Ocasio-Cortez posted on X, “Mr. President, don’t take your anger out on me—I’m just a silly girl… Also, I’m a Bronx girl. You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast.” Her comments followed a call to impeach Trump, accusing him of “illegally bombing Iran” and “betraying the Constitution.”

President Trump fired back, calling her “one of the ‘dumbest’ people in Congress,” and said her impeachment push stemmed from Democrats’ inability to accept his administration’s recent foreign policy and economic successes. He added, “Go ahead and try impeaching me again, MAKE MY DAY!”

The internet quickly pounced on Ocasio-Cortez’s “Bronx” claim. Although born in the Bronx, she moved to Yorktown Heights at age five. The suburban community in Westchester County boasts a median household income of over $138,000 and median home values exceeding $600,000, according to DataUSA.

Michael Knowles of The Daily Wire shared a map on X highlighting the disparity between Ocasio-Cortez’s claim and her actual upbringing. “The town in blue is the suburb I grew up in. The town in red is the (richer, whiter) suburb AOC grew up in. The area in the black circle way down at the bottom is the Bronx,” he wrote.

Despite presenting herself as a working-class New Yorker, Ocasio-Cortez’s childhood in a well-off suburb continues to raise questions about the authenticity of her populist persona.
