A recent CBS poll reveals that 58% of Americans support President Donald Trump’s initiative to deport illegal immigrants. However, 64% believe the administration should place greater emphasis on reducing prices, and 55% feel that too much focus is being placed on implementing tariffs.
The poll, conducted on March 27-28 among 2,609 adults, also indicates that 42% of respondents feel Trump’s policies have improved their financial situation, while 28% report a decline. Additionally, 52% say these policies have led to increased food and grocery prices, whereas 22% have noticed a decrease.
Tariffs remain a controversial topic. Many Americans remain skeptical of their impact, with more than half saying they contribute to rising costs. The administration has argued that tariffs on foreign goods, particularly from China, are necessary to protect American industries and jobs. Supporters of the policy believe tariffs will help boost domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on foreign imports, but critics warn of potential price increases for consumers.
Despite these economic concerns, President Trump’s overall approval rating stands at 50%. He receives particularly high marks for his handling of immigration, with a 53% approval rating, and an even split (50-50) regarding his efforts to reduce government agency staff.
These findings highlight the importance of balancing immigration enforcement with economic policies that address the financial well-being of American families.
