Airline CEOs Demanding Biden Get Rid of Mask Mandates on Flights

10 CEOs of airline companies have signed a letter calling on President Biden to end the federal mask mandate on flights.

QUICK FACTS:
  • A group of CEOs from different airlines have joined together to pressure Biden to stop the mask mandate on flights, The Blaze reports.
  • While the letter thanked Biden for the way he has handled the pandemic since being in office, they said it was “past time” to take away masks on planes.
  • “We appreciate the leadership of the federal government throughout the pandemic,” the letter states. “Current data and science show it’s time to move from mandates to guidance and personal health choices.”
AIRLINE CEOs ON THE CURRENT MASK MANDATE FOR AIRCRAFTS:

“It makes no sense that people are still required to wear masks on airplanes, yet are allowed to congregate in crowded restaurants, schools and at sporting events without masks, despite none of these venues having the protective air filtration system that aircraft do.”

BACKGROUND:
  • The letter included that airline employees have not been trained to mandate masks every flight, and doing so was taking a toll on their well-being.
  • The individuals included in the letter were CEO of Delta Airlines Ed Bastion, JetBlue Airways CEO Robin Hayes, Southwest Airlines CEO Gary C. Kelly, and American Airlines CEO W. Douglas Parker, and others.
