A Third of Democrats Want to Impeach Biden

Recent poll indicates that for the first time, a majority of Democratic voters want to impeach President Biden.

QUICK FACTS:
  • A new Rasmussen poll has found that less than half of those surveyed claimed to strongly oppose the idea of Biden being impeached.
  • Over 53 percent of Democrats who voted agree with Biden being forced out of office, up from 50 percent at the beginning of 2022.
  • “For the first time, a majority of voters want @potus impeached, including 32% of Democrats,” Rasmussen Reports tweeted.
  • Support for impeachment is even higher among independent voters, with only 26 percent strongly opposing the idea.
RASMUSSEN’S FINDINGS:

“Republicans voters overwhelmingly believe President Joe Biden should be impeached, and half of independents agree,” Rasmussen said.

BACKGROUND:
  • In Jan. 2022, Senator Ted Cruz said he thinks it’s possible the GOP could hold impeachment proceedings against the current president if the Republicans gain control in the midterms.
  • “I said at the time when we had a Democratic president and a Republican House, you can expect an impeachment proceeding,” Cruz said. “That’s not how impeachment is meant to work, but I think the Democrats crossed that line.”
  • Former President Donald Trump is the only federal official to be impeached twice by the House and then acquitted both times by the Senate.
