Bessent Teases Impending Historic Iranian Action

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Newsmax this week that the Trump administration is set to announce new measures against Iran that have not been seen before.

“We went from Epic Fury to Economic Fury,” Bessent said during an appearance on “Rob Schmitt Tonight.”

“At the president’s orders, we have raised the level even again, and watch this space for more announcements coming next week because we are going to apply measures like have never been seen in the history of the economic isolation of a country.”

“It will be a combination of economic isolation like ‌the world has never seen before, and the continued blockade in ‌the Strait of Hormuz that will keep anything from going in or out of the ‌Iranian ports,” he explained.

President Trump has also teased a forthcoming economic avenue with which to pressure Iran to end the conflict.

“We could just keep it alone, and they’re going to fail. We could just keep, you know, doing sort of just like nice and easy, relaxed,” he said during an interview with Real America’s Voice. “I’m sort of negotiating. You see, they’re very devious negotiators because they’ll agree to something, then they’ll go out and tell the press that they never agreed to it. They’re very dishonest people.”

Listening three avenues of action, Trump said, “[R]eally the third is just beat them economically, but we’re doing that anyway. That’s sort of a part of the first one. So economically, they are a mess. They can’t borrow money. We control their money, what they had, which is a lot. They had a lot, and we have total control of it.”
