Intelligence agencies considered criticism of former President Joe Biden to be Russian disinformation, newly released documents from White House Transparency Task Force head John Solomon reveal. The operation was launched during the 2020 election by a group of FBI analysts who claimed to be working against “malign foreign influence,” the report says.
The campaign to neutralize negative information surrounding the Bidens was called “Round River,” an FBI operation targeting journalists, Trump administration officials, and members of Congress. A declassified spreadsheet on the matter found the labeling of Russian “conduits” to be partisan. Figures like the Bidens, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Barack Obama and George Soros were considered “targets,” while conservatives such as Michael Caputo, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Mike Pompeo, Bill Bar, and Sens. Chuck Grassley, Ron Johnson, and Lindsey Graham, as well as Reps. Devin Nunes and Jim Jordan were “conduits.”
“Round River was essentially the reverse mirror operation to Crossfire Hurricane,” Solomon explained on X. “After investigating for three years disproven, Democrat allegations of Russia collusion, the FBI flipped to discrediting significant evidence from its own informants about alleged Biden family corruption.”
The new documents come on the heels of the released “Oxferd Comma” files, which sought to investigate if President Trump was working as a Russian asset upon firing then-FBI Director James Comey.
“The goal of the investigation is to determine if President Trump is or was directed by, controlled by, and/or coordinated activities with, the Russian Federation in a manner constituting a threat to the national security of the United States and/or a violation of federal criminal statutes,” the electronic communication opening the probe on May 16, 2017, read. “In addition, this investigation will also seek to determine whether President Trump and others yet to be named obstructed and/or conspiracy to obstruct any associated FBI investigation.”
