The State Department released a note regarding the nation’s updated global health policies to double down on American interests in light of recent vaccine updates.
Last year, President Trump directed Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to engage with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi). Such discussions led to “significant commitments that strengthen vaccine safety, improve public health, and better align Gavi’s work with the principles of Gold Standard Science and transparency,” the State Department explained.
Moving forward, Gavi is set to shift mercury-containing vaccines to mercury-free inoculations for meningococcal A, DTP-Hib-HepB, pneumococcal, and hepatitis B. The United States has also requested that Gavi end the promotion of COVID-19 vaccines and finalize reforms such as downsizing its staff and creating an accountability framework.
Because of the various commitments, the United States will release $600 million in appropriated funds to the vaccine entity.
“While Europe and the U.S. have eliminated mercury-laced vaccines, GAVI continues to inject more than 72 million African and Asian children with cheap jabs containing bolus doses of the world’s most potent neurotoxin,” Kennedy wrote on X. “The billions spent on DEI at HHS during the Biden administration did not prevent glaringly racist policies that protected white populations from mercury-containing vaccines while exposing Black and Brown children to them.”
“Under President Trump’s leadership, GAVI has agreed to eliminate mercury from the vaccines it provides to children,” he added. “This is an enormous victory for global health.”
Last year, Kennedy urged countries around the world to remove the mercury-based vaccine preservative thimerosal from inoculations. He said the preservative has “never undergone proper safety testing in humans.”
“I want to be clear, it’s inexcusable that governments around the world still allow mercury-based compounds in health care, and safe alternatives exist. Now that America has removed mercury from all vaccines, I call on every global health authority and every party to this convention to do the same,” Kennedy declared in his November address.
