The Department of Justice has launched a grand jury investigation into Neville Roy Singham for his funding of socialist networks across the United States.
According to those familiar with the investigation, the grand jury has issued subpoenas to those involved through U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton’s office.
Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) drew attention to the investigation on social media. “For years, Roy Singham has abused the generous tax status awarded to tax exempt organizations to fund left wing chaos and violence in our country,” he wrote. “It’s about time he is brought to justice and he is held accountable for his ties to the CCP.”
Fox News previously reported that $285 million flowed from Singham to Goldman Sachs philanthropic fund and shell companies before being funneled to nonprofit organizations and media groups, among other entities.
Last year, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-KY), Taskforce on the Declassification of Federal Secrets Chairwoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), and then-Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency Chairwoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who has since left Congress, initiated an investigation into Singham.
“The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is investigating Chinese Communist Party (CCP) efforts to sow discord in the United States, and is conducting oversight over the U.S. Government’s ability and efforts under existing law to combat such efforts,” the lawmakers wrote at the time. “Specifically, the Committee is investigating CCP influence operations that may fall within the purview of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), 22 U.S.C. § 611 et seq and other federal laws.”
“It is imperative that we expeditiously halt the continued flow of funds and material support for malign activities conducted at the behest of the CCP,” the letter added, explaining that reports suggest that Singham “may have acted as an agent for the CCP.”
Singham has also been linked to the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a group connected to the 2025 Los Angeles riots.
