University Seeks Immigrant to Teach English

The University of Notre Dame is seeking an immigrant to teach English, according to a report from The College Fix.

According to a notice of intent, the university is seeking an assistant professor in its English Department and will be paid $87,457.00 for the role. Other positions offered to immigrants include an associate research professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, an associate librarian, an associate research professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, a data scientist, a marketing analytics program manager, and a program coordinator for student success.

The Trump administration attempted to impose a $100,000 fee for those seeking H-1B visas, although the policy was blocked. According to the 2025 proclamation, “The large-scale replacement of American workers through systemic abuse of the program has undermined both our economic and national security. Some employers, using practices now widely adopted by entire sectors, have abused the H-1B statute and its regulations to artificially suppress wages, resulting in a disadvantageous labor market for American citizens, while at the same time making it more difficult to attract and retain the highest skilled subset of temporary workers, with the largest impact seen in critical science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.”

According to the recent ruling, the fee for foreign workers “imposes a tax on H-1B petitions without the requisite delegation by Congress.”

The initial lawsuit, filed in December, argued that the policy “exceeds the fee-setting authority conferred by Congress and tramples on the intricate structure created by the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 and subsequent legislation” and is “arbitrary and capricious in multiple senses.”
