City Recognizes Antifa as Terror Group

The city of Battle Ground, Washington, has officially designated Antifa as a terrorist organization.

Mayor Eric Overholser signed the proclamation during a June 1 meeting, an action that was met with protests.

The proclamation states that the mayor “acknowledges growing public concern regarding incidents across the nation involving individuals and groups engaging in unlawful conduct, including violence, assault, vandalism, arson, intimidation, harassment, and, obstruction of lawful assemblies,” and goes on to reference President Trump’s executive order on the subject.

“[O]n or about September 22, 2025, the federal government issued an executive order addressing Antifa, identifying it as a domestic terrorist organization and citing concerns regarding coordinated unlawful activity and threats to public safety,” the proclamation states, noting that the mayor “recognizes the significance of this federal action and the broader national concern regarding Antifa-associated activity reported in multiple jurisdictions.” It further states that “such unlawful conduct -regardless of affiliation or ideology-undermines public safety, damages communities, imposes financial and social costs, and threatens the constitutional rights of all citizens.”

Trump’s order describes Antifa as a “militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law.”

“Because of the aforementioned pattern of political violence designed to suppress lawful political activity and obstruct the rule of law, I hereby designate Antifa as a ‘domestic terrorist organization,'” it adds. “All relevant executive departments and agencies shall utilize all applicable authorities to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations — especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa, or for which Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa provided material support, including necessary investigatory and prosecutorial actions against those who fund such operations.”
