Massie Loses to Trump-Endorsed Candidate

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) lost his primary election to Trump-endorsed candidate Ed Gallrein.

Decision Desk HQ reports that Gallrein secured 54.88% of the vote, while Massie received 45.12%.

Ahead of the Tuesday vote, President Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The worst Congressman in the long and storied history of the Republican Party, is Thomas Massie. He is an obstructionist and a fool. Vote him out of office tomorrow, Tuesday. It will be a great day for America!”

He also wrote in a rare X post on Tuesday: “Horrible Congressman Thomas Massie put out an old Endorsement, from many years ago, of him by me long before I found out that he was the Worst Congressman in the History of our Country. I endorsed Ed Gallrein, a true American Patriot, which Massie knows full well, so the statement that he put out is fraudulent, just like HE is fraudulent. WITHDRAW YOUR FAKE STATEMENT, MASSIE, RIGHT NOW!”

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth campaigned with Gallrein, declaring that President Trump “needs reinforcements, and that’s what war fighters do.”

“They stand behind leaders and have their back,” he said during a campaign event. “War fighters understand mission, they understand teamwork, they understand loyalty, and they understand that in the middle of a fight, you don’t weaken your own side to advance to the objective, and that’s what Ed Gallrein understands, because he has lived it.”

Massie criticized Hegseth’s appearance, telling CBS News, “How much personal time do you have when you’re supposed to be monitoring a war in Iran?”

“You don’t send the Secretary of War to Kentucky during a war if you think your candidate is up 10 points,” he said. “That’s what you do when you realize your whole campaign is imploding.”

In March, Trump said Massie would go down as the “worst” Republican lawmaker.
