California Attorney General Rob Bonta admitted to CNN that President Trump’s border crackdown is helping address the flow of fentanyl into the state.
Host Elex Michaelson of CNN’s “The Story Is” asked Bonta, as reported by Breitbart, “I know you don’t like what’s happened with ICE within the country and all the rest of it, but does some of the crackdown at the border itself, has that helped at all when it comes to fentanyl?”
Bonta answered, “Well, an orderly border is obviously necessary and helpful to monitor all sorts of different things, including unlawful drugs coming across our border. So, I visited the border, I saw some of the evidence in the past where seizures have been made and how they’ve been made, and you see fentanyl inside compartments built in cars and all sorts of creative ways to move the fentanyl across the border. But, yes, a tighter border will, by definition, help address fentanyl flow.”
This week, Bonta announced the arrest of a fentanyl trafficker in Arcadia. Authorities seized 8,500,000 fatal dosages of fentanyl valued at $1.3 million. “We have arrested another fentanyl trafficker who was poisoning our communities and profiting off addiction. If you traffic fentanyl, we will find you, we will prosecute you, and we will hold you accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” said Bonta. “This fight is about more than one criminal. It is about confronting the fentanyl epidemic that has devastated families across our nation. I would like to thank my team, for investigating and prosecuting this case. Their dedication to eradicating fentanyl is saving countless lives one bust at a time.”
The United Nations has also admitted that President Trump’s border crackdown has saved lives. Data published last month by the United Nations’ International Organization for Migration revealed a drop in deaths in 2025 from the previous year.
