White House Unveils America First Counterterrorism Strategy

The Trump administration’s new counterterrorism strategy expands the nation’s national security policy to draw attention to three major terrorist threats: “narcoterrorists and transnational gangs,” “legacy Islamist terrorists,” and “violent left-wing extremists, including anarchists and anti-fascists.”

“Our counterterrorism operations will be executed apolitically and founded upon reality-based threat assessments,” the report explains. “Our counterterrorism powers will not be used to target our fellow Americans who simply disagree with us. We will not permit the weaponization of America’s unparalleled CT [counterterrorism] capabilities for partisan purposes and in contravention of every American’s God-given rights.”

The report notes that under the Biden administration, the federal government “used their significant powers to politically target individuals in the interests of those they favored, wanted to keep in power, or to help win elections.” Because of the broken trust between the government and American people, the Trump administration seeks to implement a “radical shift” in U.S. counterterrorism.

According to the strategy, the Trump administration seeks to identify terror threats, cut off their funding streams, and eradicate threat groups. In order to do so, the White House will designate cartels and gangs as foreign terror entities, neutralize threats to the U.S., launch campaigns against terrorist groups such as ISIS and al Qaeda, and use diplomatic, cyber, financial, and other actions to deter nefarious actors.

Discussing counterterrorism strategies across various regions, the report notes that Europe, while one of the U.S.’s “preeminent and long-term counterterrorism partners,” is “greatly threatened and is both a terror target and an incubator of terror threats.” It goes on to list mass migration, open borders, and “related globalist ideals.”

“The more these alien cultures grow, and the longer current European policies persist, the more terrorism is guaranteed. As the birthplace of Western culture and values, Europe must act now and halt its willful decline,” it says.

The strategy report goes on to highlight the importance of preventing a “mass casualty terror attack on American soil.”

The latest report follows a national security strategy released in December, which centered on the “America First” platform, focusing on curbing illegal immigration and U.S. dominance. Discussing the principle of the Primacy of Nations, the strategy stated, “The United States will put our own interests first and, in our relations with other nations, encourage them to prioritize their own interests as well. We stand for the sovereign rights of nations, against the sovereignty-sapping incursions of the most intrusive transnational organizations, and for reforming those institutions so that they assist rather than hinder individual sovereignty and further American interests.”
