Trump to Renovate Lincoln Memorial Pool

President Donald Trump announced that his administration will re-coat the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in an “American flag blue” hue.

In a video shared on Truth Social, President Trump said contractors “scrubbed the surface of the existing granite that had been there since 1922, we then grouted all of the granite, fixed it up, took about two weeks, and now we have a nice, clean surface on which we’re putting [an] industrial-grade swimming pool topping.”

He said the color chosen is “American flag blue,” which he said will “last for 40 or 50 years, there will be no leaks, there will be no anything, it’ll look gorgeous, beautiful, so it’s a story in business.”

The project is estimated to take two weeks.

Earlier this month, President Trump said he and the Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, would be “fixing the once beautiful Reflecting Pool between The Washington Monument and The Lincoln Memorial. We were told it was going to take YEARS to do this job, and it will take a fraction of that time, at a fraction of the cost — and it will be much more beautiful than the day it was built!

The project aligns with President Trump’s March 2025 order to beautify Washington D.C. “As the capital city of the greatest Nation in the history of the world, it should showcase beautiful, clean, and safe public spaces,” it reads. “America’s capital must be a place in which residents, commuters, and tourists feel safe at all hours, including on public transit. Its highways, boulevards, and parks should be clean, well-kept, and pleasant. Its monuments, museums, and buildings should reflect and inspire awe and appreciation for our Nation’s strength, greatness, and heritage. Our citizens deserve nothing less.”
