Dennis Quaid to Receive Patriot Award

Actor Denis Quaid will receive the Patriot Ally Award during the MV Awards on May 23. According to a report from Variety, Quaid’s “selection for the Patriot Ally Award underscores his longstanding support of military-focused storytelling and the broader veteran community.”

The event is organized by the National Entertainment Awards Academy for Military and Veterans, which seeks to “highlight authentic narratives shaped by lived experience,” the report says. This year’s ceremony will also include a special recognition for Vietnam War-related films.

The National Entertainment Awards Academy for Military and Veterans strives to “celebrate the remarkable contributions of military servicemembers, veterans, and entertainment professionals who honor their legacy,” its website says.

“A key part of our mission is to help shift the national narrative — highlighting the positive, powerful stories of military and veteran communities that are too often overlooked or misrepresented in today’s media,” it adds. “We believe in showcasing the impact, strength, and humanity of those who serve, using the power of media and storytelling to bring about greater understanding, appreciation, and connection.”

Quaid endorsed President Trump in October 2024 during a rally, telling crowds that it was  “time to pick a side.”

“I’m here to tell you that it’s time to pick a side.are we going to be a nation that stands for the Constitution or for TikTok?” Quaid said. He continued, saying that the “fairy tale called Harris and Biden now just doesn’t work. Four years ago, peace in the world was not just some kind of fairy tale either. Peace in the Middle East — Trump actually was right on the verge of accomplishing the Abraham Accords, that would have recognized Israel by Saudi Arabia and other Middle East nations, and would have had us on the road to peace that we have been so trying to get to since the Biblical times of Ishmael and Isaac.”
