Israel announced that it eliminated the chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy in a strike near the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Alireza Tangsiri “held a series of key roles in the Revolutionary Guards’ Navy, including overseeing the regime’s maritime terror activities and coordinating between Iranian military forces in the Gulf region.” He was “responsible for attacking oil tankers and merchant ships and directly threatened freedom of navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz and the international maritime domain.”
The Navy’s intelligence division head, Hanam Rezaei, was also eliminated. Rezaei “engaged in intelligence gathering on regional countries and led collaborations with various intelligence organizations,” the IDF said.
CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper noted the death of Tangsiri “makes the region safer.”
“Tangsiri commanded the IRGC-N for eight years, during which the time the IRGC harassed thousands of innocent merchant mariners, attacked hundreds of vessels with one way attack drones and missiles, and killed countless innocent civilians,” he said, adding, “Now, with the loss of their long-time leader, the IRGC-N is on an irreversible decline.”
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz also commented on Tangsiri’s death, stating that it is “an important development for our American partners, as it reflects the IDF’s role in helping to reopen the Strait of Hormuz,” as per The Jerusalem Post.
The latest deaths of Iranian officials come as Iran has rejected a U.S.-supported ceasefire proposal and instead demanded its own conditions to end the conflict. President Trump said Iranian negotiators are “very different and ‘strange.’ They are ‘begging’ us to make a deal, which they should be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback, and yet they publicly state that they are only ‘looking at our proposal.” WRONG!!!”
“They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!” he declared.
