Trump Admin Moves Against Harvard Over Campus Hostility

The Trump administration filed a lawsuit against Harvard University, accusing it of permitting antisemitic demonstrations.

According to the filing, the university “fostered and continues to foster a campus climate where hostile antisemitism and anti-Israeli conduct thrives.”

“Harvard has failed to enforce its rules or meaningfully discipline the mobs that occupy its buildings and terrorize its Jewish and Israeli students,” the filing adds. “Harvard instead rewarded students who assaulted, harassed, or intimidated their Jewish and Israeli peers.” It goes on to declare that the United States “cannot and will not tolerate these failures and brings this action to compel Harvard to comply with Title VI, and to recover billions of dollars of taxpayer subsidies awarded to a discriminatory institution.”

“Since October 7th, 2023, too many of our educational institutions have allowed anti-Semitism to flourish on campus – Harvard included,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi. “Today’s litigation underscores the Trump Administration’s commitment to demanding better from our nation’s schools and putting an end to discriminatory behavior that harms students.”

In February, President Trump announced that his administration would demand that Harvard University pay $1 billion in damages caused by its antisemitic actions.

“Strongly Antisemitic Harvard University has been feeding a lot of ‘nonsense’ to The Failing New York Times. Harvard has been, for a long time, behaving very badly! They wanted to do a convoluted job training concept, but it was turned down in that it was wholly inadequate and would not have been, in our opinion, successful,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “It was merely a way of Harvard getting out of a large cash settlement of more than 500 Million Dollars, a number that should be much higher for the serious and heinous illegalities that they have committed. This should be a Criminal, not Civil, event, and Harvard will have to live with the consequences of their wrongdoings.”

The DOJ has also filed a lawsuit against Harvard University for allegedly withholding admissions information.
