Jon Ossoff Facebook Ad Blunder Sparks Outrage

A Facebook advertisement from Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is drawing scrutiny after appearing to mix messaging from two high-profile out-of-state Democrats backing his reelection bid.

The paid ad features an endorsement statement from longtime Democrat strategist James Carville, who urges supporters to “get serious about Georgia’s Senate race.” In the ad, Carville emphasizes that Ossoff is the only Democratic senator up for reelection in a state carried by President Donald Trump, framing him as a top Republican target.

However, alongside Carville’s message, the ad also includes an image highlighting support from Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. The combination prompted criticism from Republicans, who questioned the campaign’s presentation of its endorsements.

Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), who is seeking to unseat Ossoff, blasted the ad in a statement, arguing it reflects misplaced priorities and heavy reliance on national Democratic figures rather than Georgia-based support.

Collins’ campaign has also pointed to Ossoff’s fundraising profile, claiming a significant share of his financial backing comes from outside Georgia. According to Collins’ team, roughly 80 percent of Ossoff’s donations originate from out-of-state contributors, with a substantial portion coming from California, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Republicans have further highlighted contributions from wealthy donors, including Pritzker and billionaire investor George Soros. Collins’ campaign argues that Ossoff’s acceptance of funds from prominent national donors undercuts his criticism of corporate and billionaire influence in politics.

Beyond fundraising, Collins has also criticized Ossoff’s stance on election law. Ossoff has opposed the Trump-backed SAVE Act and introduced the Right to Vote Act, legislation aimed at expanding ballot access and limiting certain voter ID requirements. Supporters describe the measure as protecting access to the ballot box, while critics argue it would make it more difficult for states to enforce voter identification standards.

With Georgia expected to be one of the most closely watched Senate battlegrounds, Ossoff’s fundraising strategy, national endorsements, and positions on election security are likely to remain central points of debate as the race intensifies.
