Former San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is facing assault and battery charges after a woman accused him of throwing books and magazines at her during an argument last year, according to court documents reviewed by TMZ Sports. The criminal complaint, filed on January 8, stems from an incident on May 31 at Davis’ home.
The woman, with whom Davis was in a relationship, alleges that the two argued about her pregnancy when Davis began hitting her with magazines and books taken from under his television. She also claims that Davis offered her $10,000 to have an abortion. The alleged assault reportedly only stopped when she pulled out her phone to begin recording him.
According to the complaint, this was not the only alleged act of violence. About a week later, the woman claims Davis slapped her across the face after she accused him of lying, warning her “not to question him.” She also said she recorded audio later that night in which Davis allegedly told her, “If I really slapped you, your face would be blue/black.”
The accuser further alleges a separate physical incident occurred before the May 31 argument, leaving her with visible signs of trauma.
In response to the accusations, a warrant for Davis’ arrest was issued on January 8 for assault and battery. He is scheduled to appear in court in February to face the charges.
Davis enjoyed a 14‑year career in the NFL, playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Washington Redskins. He finished his career with 583 receptions, 7,562 receiving yards, and 63 touchdowns.
