President Trump announced that the White House “cancelled all meetings” with Iranian officials amid ongoing protests in the country.
“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers,” he wrote on Truth Social. “They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP”
The House Foreign Affairs Committee issued a similar statement addressing the Iranian people. “To the Iranian people: Ayatollah @khamenei_ir has butchered your people, made rial the weakest currency in the world, and squandered your country’s resources,” the Committee wrote on X. “Make regime change inevitable.”
Meanwhile, Ali Larijani, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, wrote, “We declare the names of the main killers of the people of Iran: 1- Trump 2- Netanyahu.”
On Monday evening, the State Department issued a warning to Americans present in Iran, urging them to leave the country as soon as possible. “U.S. citizens should expect continued internet outages, plan alternative means of communication, and, if safe to do so, consider departing Iran by land to Armenia or Türkiye,” the statement read, going on to declare, “Leave Iran now. Have a plan for departing Iran that does not rely on U.S. government help.”
“U.S. nationals are at significant risk of questioning, arrest, and detention in Iran,” the State Department added. “Showing a U.S. passport or demonstrating connections to the United States can be reason enough for Iranian authorities to detain someone.”
According to the Associated Press, deaths from Iranian protests have surpassed 2,000 people.
