Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared over the weekend that Iran is in a “full-fledged war” with the United States and its allies.
“In my opinion, we are in a full-fledged war with America, Israel, and Europe,” Pezeshkian said in an interview with a website linked to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as reported by The Hill. “They don’t want our country to remain stable.”
”Here, they are besieging us from every aspect, they are putting us in difficulty and constraint, creating problems — in terms of livelihood, culturally, politically, and security-wise — while raising society’s expectations,” Pezeshkian claimed, adding, “On one side, they block our sales, our exchanges, our trade, and on the other side, expectations in society have risen. Consequently, we must all help with all our might to fix the country,” he added.
In September, the Iranian president accused the United States and Israel of violating diplomacy by carrying out airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities during ongoing negotiations. The accusation, made during his address at the U.N. General Assembly, further argued that U.S. attacked while Iran remained open to dialogue.
Pezeshkian’s comments come just days before President Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for security talks.
Netanyahu spoke with President Trump earlier this month, with his office saying in a statement at the time, “The two leaders stressed the importance and obligation of disarming Hamas and demilitarizing the Gaza Strip, and discussed expanding the peace agreements.”
US President Trump invited Prime Minister Netanyahu to a meeting at the White House in the near future,” the statement noted.
