Americans See Savings with One Dollar Tree Campaign

The Department of the Interior announced a plan that allows Americans to save money throughout the holiday season. The plan reduces firewood and Christmas tree permit fees through January 31 to $1 per tree or cord.

Furthermore, the Department is opening new cutting areas in woodlands, providing price relief and greater opportunities for families to collect their own firewood and Christmas trees. The Bureau of Land Management will also “increase household limits to up to 10 cords of firewood and up to three Christmas trees, with flexibility to remove caps in areas with abundant resources.”

The effort is intended to “deliver meaningful cost savings for families while promoting forest thinning and hazardous fuel reduction across millions of acres,” the Department explained. It also aligns with President Trump’s moves to deliver an estimated $10 million in economic relief to families during the holidays,

“Under President Trump, we are making Christmas affordable again,” said Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum. “American families deserve real relief and savings during the holidays, and at Interior, we are making certain that they can heat their homes while keeping their traditions alive. The ‘One Dollar, One Tree’ initiative is a powerful example of how our public lands can deliver lasting benefits for the American people, making this season brighter and more affordable for all.”

Under the former Biden administration, the prices of Christmas trees skyrocketed. Meanwhile, the White House unveiled its 2025 Christmas decorations, themed “Home is Where the Heart Is.”

“This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us,” First Lady Melania Trump told reporters. “After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with grace, radiance, and endless possibilities.”
