Democrats Push Hegseth Impeachment

Democrats are weighing whether to pursue impeachment for Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

During an appearance on MS NOW’s “Ana Cabrera Reports,” Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) said that Hegseth’s recent strikes against drug boats could be an “impeachable offense.”

Cabrera asked, “What do you make of the White House explanation that it wasn’t Secretary Hegseth, it was Admiral Bradley who gave the direct order for that second strike?”

The Democrat replied, “You have an administration that continues to put our service members in terrible situations and then throw them under the bus when people call it out or something goes wrong. There is a complete lack of leadership. There’s a complete lack of moral clarity. And the lawlessness and recklessness of this administration is putting our service members in terrible positions.”

Cabrera then asked if Hegseth “directed forces to kill everybody, even if he didn’t specifically order that second strike, was his original command lawful?” She then asked if the matter is an “impeachable offense,” to which Crow stated, “It could be.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) told Axios he may introduce articles of impeachment against Hegseth. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), however, believes the matter is unlikely to be pursued.

The situation surrounds reports claiming that Hegseth ordered a second strike on an alleged drug boat. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained that Hegseth “authorized Admiral [Frank] Bradley to conduct these kinetic strikes,” noting that Bradley “worked well within his authority and the law, directing the engagement to ensure the boat was destroyed, and the threat to the United States of America was eliminated.”
