The White House has launched a bold new website aimed at calling out what it deems biased reporting in the mainstream press, introducing features like “Media Offender of the Week” and an “Offender Hall of Shame.” The site, announced Friday, takes direct aim at outlets such as CBS News, the Boston Globe, and the Independent.
The administration accuses these organizations of mischaracterizing President Donald Trump’s recent comments about Democrat lawmakers and military orders. According to the site, the media falsely reported that Trump called for the execution of members of Congress. Instead, the White House claims he was responding to “seditious behavior” by Democrats who implied, in a video, that servicemembers could disobey Trump’s orders if deemed illegal.
In the video, several high-profile Democrats — including Sens. Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, and Reps. Maggie Goodlander, Jason Crow, Chrissy Houlahan, and Chris Deluzio — encouraged military personnel to “refuse illegal orders.” Trump responded on Truth Social by calling their statements “seditious behavior” and floated whether they should be “locked up.”
The White House website includes sections titled “The Offense” and “The Truth,” attempting to clarify what it claims are deliberate distortions by the media. “Every order President Trump has issued has been lawful,” the site states, arguing that it is “dangerous” for members of Congress to incite military insubordination.
The “Offender Hall of Shame” includes outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, CBS News, and the Washington Post. There’s also a “Leaderboard” ranking media outlets by how frequently they allegedly misrepresent Trump and his administration, with the Washington Post leading the list.
Beyond shaming, the site serves as a running fact-check according to the administration’s viewpoint, labeling stories under categories like “Bias,” “Lie,” “Malpractice,” and “Left-wing lunacy.”
Critics say the site’s tone and approach mark an escalation in Trump’s ongoing feud with the press and warn of potential implications for press freedom. Supporters argue it’s a long-overdue pushback against misinformation and narrative manipulation by legacy media.
