Trump’s Mamdani Meeting Shows Common Ground Possible

Jenn Pellegrino, Executive Director of Defend Forgotten America, says President Donald Trump’s recent White House meeting with socialist New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is proof that common sense can still bridge political divides. Speaking on Breitbart News Saturday with host Matthew Boyle, Pellegrino emphasized that Americans, regardless of party affiliation, are hungry for solutions rooted in real-world issues, not political posturing.

Boyle referenced President Trump’s comments about Mamdani being a “different guy” and noted that some former Bernie Sanders supporters had crossed over to vote for Trump in the past. Pellegrino agreed, arguing that shared values—especially regarding local issues—can transcend ideological lines.

She pointed to the southern border crisis as a clear example. Under previous Democrat leadership, Republican leaders and border-state officials repeatedly invited Democrats to witness the humanitarian and security collapse at the border. Their refusal to engage or even visit the front lines, Pellegrino said, showed a dangerous lack of interest in facts and dialogue.

In contrast, President Trump welcomed a self-described socialist into the Oval Office, highlighting that while they may differ ideologically, both men love New York City and are committed to solving real problems. “There’s a lot we don’t agree on,” Pellegrino said, “but there are areas where there is common ground.”

She blasted legacy media for constantly fueling division. “They want everybody at odds all the time,” she warned, accusing the media of inflaming conflict within the conservative movement and across the broader political spectrum.

Pellegrino praised Trump’s willingness to engage with those on the left, describing it as a model for how America can move forward. Echoing Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, she called for open conversations even when disagreement is likely. “It comes down to common sense,” she said.
