Hollywood Hypocrisy, Cheryl Hines Calls Out Elitist Attacks

Actress Cheryl Hines is speaking out against what she calls the double standards of Hollywood’s so-called moral elite. In a candid interview with the Times of London, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star criticized the entertainment industry for promoting inclusion and compassion while engaging in personal attacks and social shunning — especially over her marriage to President Donald Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Hines, who has typically stayed away from public political stances, said she’s been surprised by how quickly some in the industry have turned on her. “It is eye-opening to see people really wanting to tell you how much their morals do not line up with… the present administration, because they don’t like hate or judgment,” she said. “But then that’s exactly what they inflict on other people.”

Hines married Kennedy in 2014, a union that has reportedly cost her personal relationships and professional opportunities. One of the most public examples of estrangement involves Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David, who not only worked closely with Hines for years but also introduced her to Kennedy. Despite the tension, Hines expressed no ill will toward David, stating she would be happy to see him.

In a prior interview on The Katie Miller Podcast, Hines revealed that the hostility goes beyond awkward conversations. “I have had some friends who are so emotional about politics that even me being married to Bobby is too much for them,” she shared. “They can’t be relaxed around me.”

She believes that her political associations through marriage have even affected her career. “There are people that feel like they can’t separate the fact that I’m married to Bobby,” Hines said. While some in the entertainment industry still express interest in working with her, she noted the reality is a “double-edged sword.”

Hines’ comments highlight a growing divide in Hollywood, where tolerance and inclusion are often preached — but not always practiced, particularly toward conservatives or those connected to the Trump administration.
