Marvel actor Jeremy Renner is facing explosive allegations from Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou, who claims the star sent her explicit messages, became violent during an argument, and threatened to report her to immigration authorities. The two reportedly worked together on two film projects and briefly dated.
Zhou says Renner initiated contact with unsolicited and pornographic messages before they became romantically involved. Despite the inappropriate start, she moved forward with casting him in two of her projects earlier this year. The relationship later soured, with Zhou alleging a disturbing episode at Renner’s home in Reno, Nevada.
According to Zhou, Renner became intoxicated and screamed for hours, leading her to barricade herself in a bedroom. Fearing for her safety, she texted a friend during the confrontation, describing him as “violent” and expressing serious concern for her well-being. She claims Renner drank an entire bottle of wine during the incident.
The most alarming claim involves a threat Zhou says Renner made after she confronted him about his past behavior. She alleges that Renner threatened to call immigration enforcement on her as retaliation for confronting him about his conduct, calling it a deeply frightening and abusive response.
Zhou maintains that she asked Renner to treat her with respect, both as a woman and a filmmaker. Instead, she says she was met with intimidation and threats, behavior that she believes reflects a pattern of misconduct. Renner has faced previous personal controversies, including a high-profile divorce in 2014 and persistent tabloid rumors.
These new allegations add to growing concerns over accountability in the entertainment industry, particularly when powerful figures face little scrutiny behind closed doors. For audiences who value integrity and responsibility from public figures, the claims raise serious questions about Hollywood’s tolerance for abusive behavior.
