Trump Admin Reviewing California’s Redistricting Vote

President Trump confirmed that his administration is reviewing California’s redistricting effort and threatened to take legal action over mail-in ballots.

“The Unconstitutional Redistricting Vote in California is a GIANT SCAM in that the entire process, in particular the Voting itself, is RIGGED. All ‘Mail-In’ Ballots, where the Republicans in that State are ‘Shut Out,’ is under very serious legal and criminal review,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “STAY TUNED!”

According to a report from KCRA 3, the five California Republicans affected by the effort include Representatives Doug LaMalfa in District 1, Kevin Kiley in District 3, David Valadao in District 22, Ken Calvert in District 41, and Darrell Issa in District 48.

The effort stems from a legislative package signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) called the “Election Rigging Response Act.”

“Californians have been uniquely targeted by the Trump Administration, and thanks to the hard work of the California legislature, they will have a choice to fight back — and bring much needed accountability to Trump’s efforts to undermine the democratic process,” Newsom said in a statement at the time.

Upon signing the legislation, Newsom declared that California would be the “first state in U.S. history” to “submit to the people of our state the ability to determine their own maps.”

“I remind you all the time, it’s not the rule of law. It’s the rule of Don, and we’re standing up to that,” he added.

The California Democratic Party called the redistricting plot, Proposition 50, a “direct response to a Republican power grab orchestrated by President Trump and state leaders in Texas, who redrew Congressional district lines to gain five more seats in the US. House of Representatives.”

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) also organized support around Newsom’s redistricting effort.
