Louisville Bus Stop Shooting Leaves Woman Dead

A woman was shot and killed Wednesday morning near a school bus stop in Louisville, Kentucky, sending children running for safety and screaming in fear. The shooting happened around 8:00 a.m. near Central High School, according to WAVE3 News.

Witnesses reported chaos as the gunfire erupted, with students waiting for their bus scrambling to escape the danger. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the woman was transported to a local hospital in “unknown condition.” She was later pronounced dead, according to The Daily Mail.

Louisville Metro Police confirmed that a 15-year-old is being questioned in connection with the shooting. Authorities have not yet released details on a motive or whether the victim and the suspect knew each other.

The incident marks the second bus stop shooting in the city this month. On August 7, the first day of the school year, a 15-year-old boy allegedly opened fire at another bus stop. In that case, the teen has been charged with 33 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of possession of a handgun by a minor. No fatalities were reported in the earlier shooting, but police said the gunfire endangered numerous students and bystanders.

Community members expressed shock at the violence striking so close to children on their way to school. Local officials have urged parents to remain vigilant and have promised increased police patrols in school zones. The Louisville Metro Police Department continues to investigate both incidents, emphasizing their commitment to keeping students safe as the school year begins.
