James Comey’s Daughter, Linked to Epstein Case, Reportedly Out of DOJ

The daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, Maurene Comey, was reportedly fired from her position as a prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Comey worked on the criminal cases against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Sources familiar with the development shared the information with Politico. According to the report, Comey was not provided an explanation for her firing, although the source said the decision to remove her did not come from the office’s interim U.S. attorney, suggesting that the decision was made by an authority at the DOJ headquarters.

Conservative personalities have pushed for Comey’s removal, with investigative journalist Laura Loomer advocating for her dismissal in May. According to Loomer, Comey’s husband works at the Justice Department in the SDNY’s civil division.

The report comes days after Attorney General Pam Bondi removed the DOJ’s ethics head, Joseph Tirrell. “Pursuant to Article II of the United States Constitution and the laws of the United States, your employment with the Department of Justice is hereby terminated, and you are removed from federal service effective immediately,” the dismissal letter read.

Comey’s father, the former FBI Director, is currently facing scrutiny by the Trump administration. Earlier this year, Comey was the subject of controversy following a “86 47” social media post. The number “86” is often associated with elimination or removal, while “47” was believed to be a reference to President Donald Trump.
