The Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democratic National Committee (RNC) shared staunchly different messages on Independence Day.
RNC Chair Michael Whatley honored those who have defended and preserved the United States, celebrating the “extraordinary gift of liberty.”
“On July 4, 1776, the American colonies united to declare their independence, rejecting tyranny and laying the foundation for the greatest experiment in self-government the world has ever known,” Whatley said in a statement obtained by Newsmax. “Independence Day marks the birth of our nation and reminds us of the extraordinary gift of liberty that defines the American spirit. As we gather with friends and family, we honor the courageous men and women who paved the way for this shining city on a hill with their honorable sacrifices. God bless our freedoms, and God bless America.”
The DNC, conversely, claimed on Independence Day that the Trump administration is destroying the American dream.
“America should be the land of opportunity but under Donald Trump, the American dream is dying. Prices are rising. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have lost their jobs. Small businesses are suffering. The safety net was just gutted with historic cuts to Medicaid and food assistance. The American dream of owning a home is leaping further and further out of reach for millions of hardworking families. It has become drastically harder for Americans to just survive and get by — let alone get ahead,” the DNC declared.
“Let’s be clear: The Trump administration has taken aim at the very things that make America the greatest country in the world,” the DNC claimed, arguing that President Donald Trump has “eviscerated” the American dream.
